Cotswold is also known as the heart of England. It is a range of hills and is located in the West central England. It covers an area that is 90 miles long and 25 miles broad. This area has been designates as Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Cleeve Hill is the highest point of Cotswold. It lies within the counties of Gloucestershire, Warwickshire Oxfordshire, and extends upto, Wiltshire, Worcestershire and Somerset. The western and northern edges of Cotswold have steeply escraped downwards into the Warwickshire Avon and the Seven Valley. The escarpment is known as the Cotswold edge. Tourist Attractions The Cotswold area is characterized small towns and villages that are quite attractive. The towns and villages are made up of Cotswold stone (yellowish limestone) which is rich in fossils, especially of sea urchins. The area is typically marked with “wool churches”. These churches were built in the middle Ages when the area earned large amount of money from the wool business. This area has many second homes of the wealthy people who choose to find a place to retire in Cotswold. The main towns in the Cotswold area are Broadway, Burford, Chipping Norton, Bourton-on-the-Water, Cirencester, Moreton-in-Marsh, Winchcombe and Stow-of-the-wold. Chipping Campden is another town that is famous for being the home o the famous Art and Crafts Movement and the Annual Cotswold game. The historical structures that can be visited in Cotswold are Beveston Castle, Chavenage House, Calcot Manor, Chedworth Roman Villa, Malmesbury Abbey, Cirencester Abbey, Owlpen Manor, Tedbury Market House and Sudeley Castle. Apart from these there are also a number of museums, parks, zoos, bird sanctuary, wildlife parks, farms, mills gardens and many more things that one can get to see in Cotswold. Packages Available There are different types of holiday packages that are available in Cotswold. The packages can be categorized based on the number of days such as 1 day package, 2day package or 3 day package. These packages can also be categorized on the basis of the season in which they are being offered. There are different packages for the season of spring, summer, winter or autumn. The autumn and winter packages are available from the month of November to the month of February. The rooms can be double bedded or twin bedded and can be shared by two people. However, these packages do not include Christmas and New Year as there are separate packages that are available for festivals. Packages are also available for spring and summer from the month of February to October. These packages can be of 1, 2 or 3 days. Weekend packages are also available during summers and spring. Special packages are available for bank holidays like Easter, Mayday, August Bank Holiday weekend and Late May. There may also be special packages with musical bands as their special attractions. All these packages usually include costs for breakfasts; however, packages excluding breakfast are also available. Options of additional night stay or evening meals are also given to the people interested. All the packages are usually for double bedrooms or rooms with twin beds that can be shared by 2 people.
